The Best Lunch Spot in St Kilda – Hotel Esplanade

The Espy Kitchen

The Espy Kitchen is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Popular with families and offering something for everyone on its extensive menu, the Espy Kitchen specialises in wood-fired pizzas, local seafood, casual pub classics, and rotisserie-grilled meats. There’s always room at the Espy, as a portion of seats are held open for walk-ins at all times of the day.

Ideal for both intimate dining and large groups, the Espy Kitchen offers classic dishes elevated by our head chef Ash Hicks. Wood tables and patterned floors with oak barrels stacked overhead make the Espy Kitchen one of the most memorable dining experiences in St. Kilda.

The seasonal menu always has surprises in store, but guests can start their meal with a selection of snacks including crispy polenta chips; cheese arancini, grilled cheese with figs; chicken pate; roasted pork meatballs; fried chicken; beef tartare; or Wagyu beef croquettes. If your tastes run fresh, you can enjoy local seafood including oysters, scallops, albacore tuna, Thai-spiced mussels, crispy squid, or a towering seafood platter with all your favourites.

If you’re looking for a light salad, we offer unique combos including green leaves with buttermilk dressing; roasted beetroot with mandarin oranges; roasted cauliflower; grain salad with tahini and dukkah; barbecue roasted vegetables with yogurt; and wood-roasted Brussels sprouts. The Espy Kitchen is one of the best spots in St Kilda for vegetarians, but if you’re here for something heartier, we have you covered – the Espy Classics section of the menu includes Chicken parmigiana; fish and chips, a cheeseburger or Porterhouse steak, or a half roast chicken. Our grill and rotisserie section offers a rotating selection of the best local meat and fish, including swordfish and Wagyu beef.

No visit to the Espy Kitchen is complete without one of our wood-fired pizzas. We have vegetarian options including the Margherita; four-cheese; greens-and-buffalo mozzarella; and mushroom pies. For carnivores, dig into the salami; spicy pork, Espy Hawaiian; or our unique and spicy Chilli Prawn pizza – sure to delight adventurous diners.

The little ones will be happy with a kids’ menu including pizza, fish and chips, cheeseburgers, and a green salad with dukkah. Kids of all ages will be excited to try our sweets menu, including vanilla soft serve with salted caramel; ricotta cheesecake; coconut mouse with tropical fruits; and raspberry brioche donuts.

With a full bar offering the best drinks in St. Kilda, the Espy Kitchen offers some of the best food in St. Kilda and a unique atmosphere perfect to end an exciting day in Victoria.

Mya Tiger

If you want something more exotic after a day exploring the beaches of Victoria, Mya Tiger offers Cantonese cuisine with a modern twist in a bright, casual space. Large groups will enjoy the best seat in the house in our golden booths, but there’s always room at the Tiger – much like its sister restaurant the Espy Kitchen, Mya Tiger saves room for walk-ins at every meal.

Under the watch of head chef Sarah Chan, Mya Tiger offers an extensive menu of dumplings, roast meats, and small plates against the backdrop of the Victoria sunset. Large groups of twelve or more should enquire about our special banquet menu, giving a taste of everything Mya Tiger has to offer.

A list of snacks includes fresh oysters in rice wine vinaigrette, chili-flavored wood ear mushrooms, edamame, BBQ pork buns, prawn toast, cumin lamb spring rolls, five-spice chicken ribs, and cured raw kingfish. Dumpling options include pork chili wontons, pork-and-prawn siumai, ginger chicken dumplings, mushroom dumplings, and Bao buns with either roast duck or crispy pork.

The centrepiece of any meal at Mya Tiger is the roast meats, and you can start with individual portions of either of our pork preparations – sticky glazed roast pork, or deep-fried crispy pork belly. The true headliner is our Mya Roast Duck, offered in half or whole duck for the table and carved tableside to be rolled with pancakes, cucumber, and leeks and topped with chili or Hoisin sauce.

Those who want a lighter main course will enjoy a selection of seafood entrees including baby snapper, steamed barramundi, or spicy King Prawns. A selection of rice and noodle dishes are available with our signature meats. Don’t forget to end the meal with one of our unique Asian desserts – mango coconut pudding; red bean mille-feuille; or five-spice yuzu curd donut.

Mya Tiger offers a selection of in-house cocktails prepared by our expert bartenders, the perfect finish to one of the most unique meals in St. Kilda.

Ground Floor Beer Garden

If you need a refreshment rather than a sit-down meal, you can slake your thirst at Hotel Esplanade’s collection of bars – five floors and twelve bars, each with a unique vibe but the same quality of drinks. At every bar, you’ll find dozens of draught, bottled, and canned beers from around Australia and beyond. Whether you want pink, red, white, sweet, or sparkling wine, we’ve got the bottle for you.

The main attraction of the Beer Garden is our Seaside Classics cocktail menu, featuring nine original cocktails. For those who prefer classics, we’ve got a trio of bottled cocktails ready to drink in seconds.
